Access Making Cents' Annual "State of the Field" Publications. A practical resource for promising practices, innovative ideas, and lessons learned shared at previous learning events:
Learn from a report Youth Business International (YBI) launched at the 2011 conference: "Youth Entrepreneurship- Closing the Gap" (downloadable at: http://www.youthbusiness.org/media/publications.aspx). "Closing the Gap" builds directly on the previous paper in YBI's series, 'Beyond Collateral' (2010), and complies nine case studies that each illustrate how the finance 'gap' can be closed for underserved entrepreneurs through providing non-financial support, such as training and mentoring. This integrated approach reduces the risk of lending, with banks or other financial institutions recognizing the value of the non-financial support, which substitutes for collateral and other types of guarantee. The report features three other leading organizations in our sector, International Youth Foundation (IYF), TechnoServe and Silatech.
