The 2008 Global Youth Enterprise Conference convened 350 representatives of 189 organizations in 50 countries to discuss: 1) Market-Driven Approaches; and

Through these technical themes, conference participants engaged in action-based learning on topics such as youth financial services, working with adolescent girls, and implementing initiatives in conflict-affected environments. The conference has led to the formation of new partnerships; the acquisition of new technical skills; and the dissemination of lessons learned, promising practices, and innovative ideas.

| Martin Burt, Founder & Executive Director, Fundacion Paraguaya (Paraguay):
“Fundacion Paraguaya has been pleased to engage in the Global Youth Enterprise Conference as an Advisory Committee member, a sponsor, and a presenter. It is a unique learning event that has offered us significant opportunity to share our work, build new partnerships, and contribute directly to the field of youth enterprise. The conference offers concrete results for a variety of organizations operating in this arena.”
Andrea Cespedes, Youth Entrepreneur and Scholarship Recipient (Argentina):
“This valuable experience divided the life of my project into the “before” and “after.”
It gave me the opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs who have had similar experiences, create new networks and strategic alliances, and talk with potential funders. My vision has grown bigger as well. The word “thanks” seems too small to express my appreciation for the opportunity and the doors this conference opened.
I believe the best way to return what you did for me is to grow my project for the betterment of my community.”
Irene Mutumba, Founder and Executive Director, Private Education Development Network (Uganda):
“That one decision made in 2008 to attend the Global Youth Enterprise Conference not only gave me a new and bigger family of 'youth practitioners' but brought with it great opportunities that have positively impacted my work and the organization in general.”
Rock Power, Founder & Coordinator of Jeunes Entrepreneurs Congolais (Democratic Republic of the Congo):
“Change is coming! Change is on the way in the Democratic Republic of Congo for disadvantaged young people to start their own business and become successful entrepreneurs to support themselves and their family through the support of different donors and perceptive donors and partners I met at Global Youth Enterprise Conference 2008 in 2 days, after struggling from many years to get donors involved in our programmes. I cannot thank you enough Making Cents International and their supporters to organize such kind of learning event for the advancement of youth entrepreneurship around the Globe. With Making Cents International we can make a difference.”
Francisco Roman, Youth Entrepreneur and Scholarship Recipient (Peru):
“The Global Youth Enterprise Conference gave me a broader vision about the
inter-relation between business and social development. Hearing the experiences of development projects incentivized me to formulate new objectives related to value chains and the integration of women in social-business projects. It was a wonderful experience to feel that all the people who participated in the conference were united in support of the sustainability of developing countries.”
